| Get
your dogs 'chipped' by council
DOG owners are being invited to
have their pets chipped for free as part of an ongoing Rhondda Cynon Taf Council
canine scheme. The council's animal shelter in Dinas will micro-chip your dog
on Saturday mornings as part of the initiative to encourage more pet owners to
abide by the law, which states all dogs must wear a collar and identification
by law. Micro-chipping is a further step forward to ensuring the identification
of an animal is discovered quickly should they go missing. The project, led
by the council's Streetcare team, is designed to further crackdown on the issue
of dog fouling which pervades certain communities more than others. For further

Animal
rescue
We are here mostly for small animals such as rabbits, guniea
pigs, rodents etc. but will occasionaly take in cats depending on the space that
we have available but I do work closely with other cat rescue charities so could
always put people forward to them if I do not have the available space at the
time. We are a non profit making rescue so donations from charities are
always welcome, donations could be rabbit food, rodent food such as hamster, rat,
gerbil food, guniea pig food, vegetables, bedding material such as shavings, shredded
paper, any unwanted hutches, runs ect. Anything is welcome, that will help the
rescues. I am also always looking for foster homes short or long term,
volunteer drivers to take the rescues to their new homes or pick them up from
their unwanted homes and home checkers are always needed.

Golden
Lion Animal Rescue is a small, independent rescue in Cynon Valley that tries to
help any animal, anywhere. One of the major problems for this and any other rescue
is the immense volume of unwanted and stray cats. Every day the Rescue gets at
least one call asking it to take in a cat. Of course, this is an impossibility
otherwise the rescue would be totally overwhelmed. Not enough people offer homes
to adult cats to enable it to bring in all the other unwanted ones.
Please help by: * Getting any cat in your care spayed or castrated to limit
the number of kittens being born. Vouchers to assist with cost can be obtained
by telephoning Golden Lion Rescue. IT IS NOT TRUE THAT A
CAT SHOULD HAVE ONE LITTER BEFORE BEING SPAYED. The first time a cat is
aware of motherhood is when the kittens are born. It does not miss anything by
not having a litter. * Please consider trying to look after any stray
or inherited cat that comes to you. The Rescue can help you in many ways but it
cannot take in every unwanted cat. * Consider giving a home to an adult
cat rather than a kitten. All adult cats in the Rescue will have been spayed or
castrated, also wormed and deflead before rehoming. * If you are aware
of a problem developing in your area with stray cats / kittens, please contact
the Rescue immediately so that trapping and neutering can start as soon as possible.
A female cat can become pregnant again as soon as the kittens are weaned (and
the kittens themselves are sexually active at 5 - 6 months) It is vital to prevent
a population explosion. * If you are able to donate anything to the
Rescue - dog or cat food, bedding, etc - it will be most gratefully received.
