BARKIN'

A brand new black comedy written by and starring Frank Vickery.
Directed by Phil Clark

It's new. It's funny. It's poignant.

This tightly woven drama is a rich cocktail of pathos and humour, dark secrets and unrealised dreams.

Stevie has lived all her life with her domineering mother and feels trapped by the responsibility of caring for her, while her seemingly carefree brother is living life to the full. Now, has the day finally arrived when Stevie can, at last, experience the freedom she has yearned for? Or will she discover that things are not quite what they appear to be?

Barkin', Frank's first new play in over three years is an incisive, engaging, and darkly comic drama. Using his usual humour and realism, this black comedy explores issues that many of us can certainly identify with.

Audience members agree;

'very emotive, I wanted to know more from the very beginning.'

'moments of comedy intertwined with moments of drama - genius!'

BROKEN PEACE / NI DDAW HEDDWCH

Tonypandy 1910 - 2010
Who were the people from our Valleys who struggled through unimaginable hardship with courage, strength, and typical Welsh humour? What were their lives like during this struggle and how does that resonate with us today?

Do you recognise any faces in the crowd in the old photographs? What stories have been told and pictures handed down through the generations?

This period in time within the Rhondda Valleys may have culminated in the riotous events in 1910, but this unique live music event is more than just remembering a single day…

It's an insight into the thoughts, emotions, fears and strengths of the people of the Valleys, via songs written especially for this music event by internationally acclaimed award-winning Welsh singer-songwriter Martyn Joseph.

One of acoustic music's most arresting artists, Martyn will be joined by students from Tonypandy Community College and Ysgol Gyfun Y Cymer, who will be contributing compositions and musical accompaniment guided by MD Andrew Griffiths.

KING KING featuring Alan Nimmo
In The Blues Lounge
Softly softly" is not a maxim that King King are familiar with. Since surging into life last year they have barely stopped for breath, and their electrifying sound and scorching live shows have generated more of a thunderous roar than a buzz.
This is a band which knows how to make an entrance. Fronted by charismatic bluesman Alan Nimmo, their exhilarating debut at last year's Monaghan Blues Festival created such a stir that it prompted organiser Somhairle MacConghail to declare: "King King aren't just playing the festival. Davies, an elderly drifter, is given shelter by the kindly but vulnerable Aston.

Audience members agree;

'very emotive, I wanted to know more from the very beginning.'

'moments of comedy intertwined with moments of drama - genius!'
